Research Interests

I am interested in exploring how people learn to do physical creative tasks like sewing, pottery, or baking. Through this research I hope to uncover ways to improve the learning curve in order to allow people to skip some of the frustrating learning process and instead jump into creativity.  Particularly, I want to look at the intersection of how technology can integrate into learning to streamline this process. I want to conduct observational research in situ to explore how technology can aid in physical learning.

Current Research

Working as a researcher at the UC San Diego Design Lab

Home DIY

Collected data on home DIY projects through a portrait analysis of online videos. Working with Scott Klemmer (at UC San Diego) and Kristin Williams (at Emory) so as to understand people's process and reasoning for home projects.

Alumni Survey

Developing and testing a survey for design alumni at UC San Diego to gauge where they are at in their career and how we can better help both alumni and current students. We have the goal of using this data to inform the current Design and Interaction curriculum at UC San Diego.
